Welcome to Noel’s Kitchen Tips…

My mission as a mom is to make meal times for my family a place to reconnect. I want everyone to have fun and most importantly enjoy a wonderful meal. For most busy moms and their families, that’s not always easy to do.

Like a lot of busy moms who are always on the go, I’ve been a working mom balancing the demands of a family and a busy career. I was always finding dinnertimes to be somewhat of a challenge in the earlier years working 10-12 hour days. By the time I walked in the front door, the kids were asking me “What for Dinner?” By the time we finished dinner, got the kids bathed and ready for bed, there was no “real” time to reconnect without feeling rushed for time.

I was always looking for ways to save time, money, and the stress, especially at meal times. I believed in the idea of family meal times and reconnecting with family. I remember Sunday mealtimes as a child where everyone would gather around the table and reconnect while enjoying our meal. We didn’t feel stressed or pressed for time. Of course, times were different then. But this is a memorable tradition I want my children to carry on as they get older and have a family. We lose such valuable time with our kids by working all day and by the time we get home, we’re exhausted, who wants to think about making dinner after working all day. At this point most families resort to takeout and that’s not healthy for our children much less ourselves.

Having four children I learned to make healthy quick meals because of my schedule. I sat down with a pencil and paper one day and began jotting down some of my family’s favorite recipes. I pulled out my cookbooks and looked for recipes I could make ahead of time, in 30 minutes or less and ones that would freeze well. Meal Planning became easier and with limited space for storage and room for appliances, I’ve had to be very creative about the meals I made. I spent years figuring that my commitment to my career did not have to shortchange my family. I learned that with limited time and resources, I could produce terrific dinners for my family, 7 nights a week, in 30 minutes or less (less than an hour on weekends) that would bring my family to the dinner table more often.

I hope my website inspires everyone to cook with your kids, share more memories and make family meal time fun again.
