Sweet Skillet Cornbread

Sweet Skillet Cornbread

This Sweet Skillet Cornbread is so easy to make, super delicious -and a family favorite side dish recipe for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I love cornbread. I enjoy making it and for some reason it just seems to taste better from scratch. It’s really good with Chili, Lasagna, Spaghetti and goes well with soups and stews. Occasionally, like this morning, I’ll make it for breakfast. Drizzle with a little bit of my favorite blackberry honey or blueberry butter and it’s ooh it’s so good!!

How to make this recipe good and affordable?

Here are some of the strategies you can use to make this recipe more budget friendly for your grocery budget:

  • Make your own mixes from scratch – Don’t buy those pre-packaged boxes of cornbread from the grocery store. A bag of cornmeal goes a long way. You can make your own at home much cheaper and it even taste better!
  • Buy in Bulk -Stock Up when items are on sale. When I see baking items on sale at the grocery store, no matter what season it is, I buy in bulk. Stocking my pantry, when these items go on sale, is saving my family money.

How I make this recipe easy

We all have the basic kitchen tools that make our kitchen functional such as pots and pans, mixing bowls, bakeware, etc. but the right kitchen tools will always make the job easier and quicker for a busy mom. Previously, as a Pampered Chef Consultant, I’ve catered my collection so that they are perfect for my needs. Making for less time in the kitchen and more time with the family.

Here are my favorite tools that I use for this recipe:

  • Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl – I find for me personally, the batter flows out of stainless steel nice than a plastic bowl. I have small and large stainless steel bowls for a variety of kitchen uses.
  • Stainless Steel Wire Whisk – I absolutely love my Pampered Chef one, but these hold up nicely when I’m mixing by hand and the wires don’t bend with heavy mixing. Plus they’re affordably priced.
  • Non-Stick, Heat-Resistant Rubber Spatula – I have one of these for every type of use in the kitchen, baking or cooking.
  • Cast Iron Skillet– It’s always nice to have at least one cast iron skillet for cooking. It doesn’t have to be an expensive one but a good one. Very easy to cook in and  it’s pre-seasoned properly.
