This past weekend Sunset magazine opened their headquarters in Menlo Park for a “Celebration Weekend” that highlights food, home improvement, travel and fun in the West. This was our first trip there and I can tell you it’s an absolute BLAST of great ideas on foot and home improvement ideas.
Our first stop after a three hour long drive (it was worth it) was a quick pit stop to the restroom, then we quickly dashed off to watch Guy Fieri with his son Hunter on the stage do a cooking demonstration of his Grilled Dr. Pepper pork flatbread with crispy asian slaw. Unfortunately, we didn’t arrive early enough to be one of the lucky few who received free cookbooks for an autographed copy by Guy. (Oops, little misunderstanding on the timing.) But I did buy one of his Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives cookbooks and he did stop afterwards for a closeup.
I grabbed a few pics of Guy cooking on stage and honestly, he’s just as fun and cool in person as he is on tv.
After the cooking demonstration, we were able to check out the “Ultimate Outdoor Living Room,” design demonstrations, backyard farm area, wine seminars, and other cooking demos featuring the likes of Jeff Anderson, Executive Chef, Safeway Inc. make Asian peanut noodle salad which we were able to taste test.
There was lots more to see and learn this past weekend at Sunset Celebration Weekend that I’ll share with you throughout the week. Stay tuned…..
