Over the past couple of months, I’ve gone nut crazy over Homemade Almond Butter and Natural Peanut Butter. Adam’s Natural Peanut Butter is what I usually buy at the grocery store but the almond butter is a little more on the expensive side, so I decided to do some research and found that making almond butter is unbelievably simple. With just one simple ingredient of raw almonds and a food processor, I could do this.
Approximately fifteen minutes later, I had a jar of delicious homemade almond butter that cost me about $2. My first recipe test I used raw unsalted cashews with raw almonds. (I’m sharing my How-To Video Below). The photo above, is just 2 cups of raw almonds toasted in the oven then processed in the food processor. Easy peasy right?
- 1 to 2 cups raw almonds
- 1/2 cup raw unsalted cashews (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and roast almonds for approximately 5 minutes until lightly toasted. Remove from oven and let cool but not necessary.
- Pulse your food processor until the nuts break up a bit. If needed, scrape down the sides. At this point, turn your food processor on it’s highest setting and let it do it’s job. You’ll notice the almonds will start to look like bread crumbs then they will start to become to become a rough paste. Keep processing.
- Halfway through, scrape down the sides then return lid and continue to process for the full 10 minutes. You will start seeing a creaminess. Once you see this, you have made your homemade almond butter. I scraped the almond butter out of my processor and pressed it into a food prep jar. But any glass jar will do.
