I used to purchase fruit snacks for school lunches from the grocery store almost every two weeks if they were on sale or I’d buy one of those huge boxes from Costco. After feeling like I wasn’t really getting my money’s worth, I finally decided to try my hand at making my own homemade fruit snacks for a fraction of what they cost at the store. Truth be told, the kids love them!
I made this really easy recipe that uses gelatin and I was a little worried that they would turn out like jello jigglers but it turns out they are just as firm texture wise as fruit snacks from the store and taste better. They don’t even need to be refrigerated! I found some small cubed ice trays at the thrift store for $0.25 each for my mold, but if you look around, you can find different mold shapes at your local dollar store, Walmart or Target.
