Goals are only dreams

Happy New Year! Wow. A new year is finally here. Which means it’s time to start really plotting out those January 2018 Goals. It’s a fresh start as they say to accomplish anything you set your mind to.

New Year 2018

I purchased my new 2018 hardbound Erin Condren Planner a few weeks ago and I couldn’t wait until the new year to start jotting down ideas on post it notes and apply them to each month of things I already knew I had to accomplish for that month, birthdays and some January 2018 Goals.  I’ll spend a few hours today finishing up my monthly plan for January as well as putting this week’s tasks and goals down.

I also changed my theme on my blog hoping that this change will make it much easier to navigate on the site and help me be more productive with sharing things with all of you. I’ll be working on those finishing touches as time allows throughout the week.

In the last few days, I’ve also taken a little bit of time to reflect on this past year’s work, family life, health goals and blog posts before looking forward to the next. I’d love to share this reflection with you and encourage you to do a similar look back on whatever reflections of this past year brought before jumping into new resolutions.

After all, how can we choose what direction to head in without understanding where we’ve been, what has worked, and what hasn’t, right? And with that…Here are the Top 10 Blog Posts from 2017 by Noel’s Kitchen Tips readers.

January 2018 Goals:

At the beginning of each month, I’ll make a list of realistic goals I want to accomplish for the month. I have numerous ideas. There are a lot of exciting things that I’m hoping 2018 will bring and there are so many things I want to achieve in the new year, both for myself and for my biz. Goals are only dreams until you set an action plan for how to achieve them.

  • Create a Vision Board

I had created a vision board a few years ago when I first began my coaching career as a Beachbody coach a few years ago and sadly never kept my focus. I’m hoping with a new year, a new vision board and hard planning it will be successful.

  • Celebrate Annual Family Vacation

This year, we’re planning another exciting trip to Disneyland during Fall Break. I started sharing my Disney Savings Reports each month and how our family goes to Disneyland on a budget last year.

Disney Three Dollar Challenge

  • Monthly Savings Challenge

I decided a little later in the year last year to start saving money by doing a $3 a week savings challenge. With the holiday season it was a bit of a challenge, so I’m resuming it again this month. My goal for the end of the year is $4,134.

Daily Tasks

  • Reach Daily Swagbucks Goals (Daily Tasks)

This may sound odd to some of you. However, this is a HUGE part in how I earn our FREE family vacations, buy birthday presents and even Christmas presents each year. It’s our family way to coupon to Disney!

Weekly Tasks

  • Weekly Meal Plan (Weekly Tasks)

Eating meals at home with our families is a great way for families to reconnect and develop relationships as well as customize our families’ meals and good nutrition habits. Not to mention, it saves you money.

  • 10,000 Steps A Day/Self Care

I think I speak for all us #moms when I say that self-care is always a struggle! It’s something that I tend to neglect until I really need it. This year, I am making it a goal of mine to focus more on self-care, getting those 10,000 steps in daily and get my body moving more frequently. At one point, I was walking at least 5-6 times a week, 5 miles a day but honestly it’s probably been a few months since I’ve done that.

But I plan on tracking those healthy habits using my Fitbit and writing each of those daily steps in my planner. Let me know if you’ll be doing this as well and we can keep each other accountable to following through with it.

Business Goals

  • Monthly Blog Stats

I love using the “Monthly Goals” section at the start of each month in my planner. Starting this month,  I ‘ll have my monthly goals written out in that section. This is where I’ll write out my monthly stat goals for Noel’s Kitchen Tips, so I will be implementing strategies for how I can get my pageviews higher in the new year and hopefully increasing my pageviews further the rest of the year. I slacked off big time lat year and this year, I’m excited to have a new theme to work with.

  • Social Media Engagement

For January, I am looking to increase my Instagram and Pinterest following by 150, Facebook by 35 and add 20 more people to my new email list. This is something I think a lot of us fellow bloggers and content creators are always trying to do. By coming up with a goal for ourselves, we can implement strategies and check back every once in awhile to see what strategies are working and which ones aren’t.

  • Plan A New Etsy Store

Yes, this is an idea I thought of creating monthly family friendly meal plans, grocery lists and recipes at a low cost to families. Right now, I’m looking into the technical programs that can help me pull it all together. But don’t worry, you’ll still get some freebies here on Noel’s Kitchen Tips.

In 2018

In 2018 I want to focus on buying less stuff and putting that money towards family experiences together instead. I want to plan, cook, and eat wholesome, simple healthy meals. I want to better invest in friendships that are meaningful to me.

I want to continue to grow this space, share more openly with you my readers, and connect more deeply. Above all, I want meaningful time with my family.

Thank you all for being such a big part of my life. Thank you for caring about my family, for engaging in conversation with me and with each other, and for sharing my posts with your friends. I’m so grateful for this space because it provides me an outlet for creativity and connection., but there’d be no connection without you!

Cheers to a full new year- full of joy, love, purpose, and promise. <3
