Know Why You Should Get In The Game Today! Blogging about Health and fitness has been a part of my life for well over two years now and while some days are easier than others to find that motivation to share, there are times where I struggle to come up with a motivational topic that I think many of my readers can relate to. And as crazy as this may sound to some, hearing just a phrase, working outdoors or reading a simple quote can send my mind racing as to how I can relate it to my life.
Know Why You Should Get In The Game Today!
That is precisely what happened to me yesterday. I usually spend about 5 hours on Sundays busy, hard-working on my friends 40-acre farm in the farmhouse and/or working in his garden. Talk about getting a workout in. I tend to not workout or walk on these days since farming is non-stop hard work. As tough as working on a farm may be to some, I really enjoy it. It’s nice to get out in the fresh air and be around different farm animals and learn a bit more about organic living. It helps me learn how I can improve or add to our little farming lifestyle at home.
While I was working in the lower knoll, I stopped and looked up for a moment and captured my surroundings. In that moment, I glanced up at the sky at the clouds and all the trees surrounding me and thought, “Create Your Moment.”
The minute it popped into my head, I knew these three little words were going to be captured in today’s Monday Motivation blog post. After all life is really all about moments we create every day. It’s not a single event that defines who we are, but many moments strung together that will.
Create Your Own Moments
I don’t know if it’s the wisdom as they say of growing older, the criticism of the non-doers I’ve had to encounter, or the fact that that I am no longer accepting mediocrity as my norm, but my journey of healthy living has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. There is no longer sitting back and waiting for life to happen to me. I have found the courage to take life by the reins to CREATE MY OWN MOMENTS of living.
I absolutely refuse to settle for less and sit on the sidelines watching others live their dreams. If that means going out there and taking risks only to fall flat on my face, I am all for it. This is something that I struggled with for most of my life. After all, who wants to be embarrassed or look silly?
That was the ‘old’ me–the one who wanted to meld in with the rest of society, to conform to their standards. The NEW me wants to soak up life.
I shared this pic this morning on my Facebook page as my morning greeting.
Live A Life Of Positivity
I want to surround myself and my family with positivity and friends who just want to be silly every once in awhile. If that means playing in the mud and water for 10+ miles obstacle course or dressing up in a prison outfit to run a jailbreak run, then bring it on. I want to surround myself and my children with family members who don’t judge, neglect or criticize how we’re living life and set a good example for my children. I don’t ever want them to feel afraid to soak up life.
There is something about the comfort and safety of playing life safe, but the more we step out of that comfort zone, the more comfortable we become in taking risks and the more we grow as an individual.
Each day is one more day I am CREATING MY MOMENT. Every day I walk into the great outdoors for my walk, I am CREATING MY MOMENT. All obstacle events I participate in, I am CREATING MY MOMENT. It’s not about winning, coming in first, being better than others–it’s about me living life. I am no longer a bystander in my own life, I am a full participant. Each step I take, whether that is on my training walks/runs or a everyday life, I am creating my moment. Each second that passes by we have the choice to sit and let life pass us by OR we have the choice to take life by the reins and CREATE OUR MOMENT!
So I ask you…Are you sitting on the sidelines judging others or Are you in the GAME taking RISKS and ACTION? Today make the choice to BE IN THE GAME! How do you CREATE YOUR MOMENT?
