Two weeks ago, I was at a point in my life where I was telling myself enough is enough. These past few years I have not been feeling as healthy or as active as I normally was. What happened to me? Yes, I’m older, but I don’t feel as though that’s an excuse. There are woman out there much older than me running marathons.  

I am now Committed to Eating Clean to Live Healthy!

We moved up  from the Bay Area to the Sierra Foothills almost nine years ago this coming November and I feel like my active lifestyle took a plunge. Things seems much slower up here in the sierra foothills. A year ago this past February, I was sitting in an office 8 hours a day, exhausted, not enjoying my job or the drama that came with it so I moved on to work our home business. I was enjoying working our home business but I wasn’t happy with my health or my body. I wasn’t moving around a lot.

Being on a strict budget, going to a gym wasn’t practical at this point in time for me or my family. I needed something that I could do at home while the house was quiet. Then one day I saw an Instagram photo posted by my friend Stacy, a Beachbody Coach who was sharing a Coaching at a Glance Photo. There’s nothing like a photo of someone you know sharing their success to inspire you. After liking her Instagram photo, Stacy sent me a message asking me if I would consider being a part of her 7 day “Coaching at a Glance” group? I had never heard of Beachbody, Shakeology or really paid any attention to what it was all about until now. I told her we were on a budget and I had no money to commit to starting up a new business but I would check it out. Wouldn’t hurt and a few minutes of my time each day was affordable. So I followed the group, did some research and because of the great support I saw from the group, I decided to continue on to the KICK START YOUR DIET!!! 7 Day CLEAN EATING Challenge! It consists of a sample seven day meal plan and is more of a way of life than it is a diet. 

The important thing to remember is to eat several small meals per day to keep your metabolism in high gear and to guard against hunger. Hunger is the enemy. Hunger can trigger storage enhancement – so needless to say don’t get caught skipping your snacks.

The group was given a meal plan for 7 days and a shopping list.  I found myself in the health food section of the grocery store for a much longer period of time than usual. Each day our meals consisted of Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and a snack in between. I spaced our meals out to every 2 1/2 to 3 hours which seemed to balance out the day. The meals were healthy and refreshing and I didn’t feel any cravings for salty foods or the breads and cheese that we normally eat. I cut way back on my caffeine intake to only one cup of black coffee in the morning at breakfast and I started doing workouts at home walking again. We finished the 7 Day Clean Eating Challenge this past Sunday and I stepped on the scale and I was down 2 pounds. It may be only 2 pounds, but it’s a start. We have continued on working out and making eating clean a habit now.

 We now have explored the possibility of becoming  Beachbody Coaches and considering adding Shakeology to our daily menu once we can afford it. In conclusion, we loved eating clean and the feeling you get from having a healthy meal each day. We made some really yummy meals and I fell in love with a salad dressing that we now enjoy on our salads routinely. I’ll share the recipe in another post. Our choice to be healthy and fit is not a phase, it’s our new lifestyle!
