Weekly Meal Planning April 22- 28, 2012

Posted on 23 April 2012 by noelskitchen

Need ideas for your weekly meal plan? It’s time for another weekly menu.  I enjoy menu planning because of  the simplicity it provides for my life. It enables me to decrease my grocery shopping excursions to twice a month and it allows me to  have more free time to focus on my family and home. For ideas in the weekly meal plan, we’ll be focusing on a variety of family meals. You’ll find the recipes on the weekly meal plan also available on my Recipe Index page with a grocery list included.

My Weekly Meal Plan

This past weekend was just beautiful wasn’t it? Warm weather has arrived. Yeah!  I just love it with the weather starts to get warmer around the farm. Spring has sprung. And we can now leave our windows open 24/7. Living here in the sierra foothills, our weather can be unpredictable at times. It was just last week when we had snow. So, the windows have been tight shut for months. But, now, we’re ready for the fresh air night and day. Yeah! Love that.

We spent a good part of Saturday looking around at the  Habitat for Humanity ReSale store in town looking around.  Most of these stores focus on home improvement goods like furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances. I see lots of home improvements coming this summer.  ReStores provide an environmentally- and socially-responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of landfills. I ended up finding a great light to replace going over the stove top in the kitchen.  It’s very simple but it gives off great lighting.

Later on in the afternoon, I had a chance to experiment making Homemade Almond Milk. Ten quarts later and we will never go back to store bought almond milk again. It’s a lot cheaper to make your own and you know what ingredients are being used to make it.

Sunday, was another beautiful day, so we went for a hike by the river and had a picnic lunch. Kids played in the water, while I layed out in the sun and the hubs looked for rocks. Part of our Ebay Antiques and Treasures business is gems and minerals, so up here he’s always on the lookout. You just never know what you’ll find. It’s Gold Country. So needless to say, my meal planning was postponed until today.

This week, since the weather has been so nice, I’ve decided to add in some lighter meals, I want some easy meals, including some to throw on the grill or into the crockpot, so as a family, we can enjoy more time outside.

My weekly meal plan and shopping list is completed and posted on our fridge:

Breakfasts Will remain the same with some variety: Scrambled or Fried Eggs, Breakfast BurritosOatmeal PacketsGreen Smoothies, some type of muffins, Homemade Granola Bars, Cold Cereal. New recipe this week: Spiced Raisin Bread

Lunches Are usually a bit more flexible, as often times we’ll simply have leftovers from a previous night’s meal, but if not, I always have ingredients on hand in the pantry for: Egg Salad SandwichesTomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Peanut Butter and Jelly or regular sandwiches like Ham, Turkey and Cheese all served with fresh fruit and veggies. In addition to our weekly menu, we have a baking day on a weekly basis. Every Sunday afternoon, we will rotate through restocking some nutritious snacks and baked goods, such as granola, protein bars, granola bars, muffins, and/or biscuits  for various meals.

Dinner (recipes will post throughout the week)

Sunday: Vegetable Stir Fry with Rice

Monday: Family Sub Sandwiches

Tuesday:  Noel’s California Tostadas

Wednesday: BBQ Chicken (on the grill)

Thursday: Hot Dogs or Polish Sausage on Homemade Buns, Cole Slaw and Veggies

My Weekly Meal Plan

This week, I’ll be basing a lot of the recipes based on the Turkey I roasted on Saturday and the Crock Pot Roasted Chicken I’m cooking today. My freezer is well-stocked with frozen veggies that were on sale in last week’s family deals at the grocery store that I’ll be including as well.

My weekly meal plan and shopping list is completed and posted on our fridge:

My Weekly Meal Plan

Last week, since it was spring break here, the kids spent a majority of the week playing outdoors enjoying the start of our beautiful Spring weather and playing with friends. We have a huge family surprise New Years vacation plan in the works so no major family getaways before then. Over the summer, we’ll sneak in a camping/fishing trip and have our yearly pool party get together with friends. We’ll be keeping it simple.

I finished up the weekly meal plan early yesterday morning before our Easter Egg hunt at home. I’ll be reviewing some last minute sales in the the weekly grocery store ads again before my shopping trip tomorrow and see what I can come up with for What’s In Season the early part of this month and share throughout the week.

My weekly meal plan and shopping list is completed and posted on our fridge:

Sunday: Roasted Garlic and Rosemary Chicken, Potatoes and Carrrots, Homemade Bread Rolls

Monday: Pending… We are attending memorial services today and having a late lunch with family members so we’re not quite sure when we’ll arrive home.

Tuesday: Taco Tuesday

Wednesday: Breakfast For Dinner

Thursday: Pasta Night, Salad or Veggies, Drop Biscuits

Friday: Pizza Night! Homemade Pizza Dough with Homemade Pizza Sauce, Veggie Platter
